The Abyss (abusos) or Tartarus is a distinct, maximum-security prison within the underworld, specifically created for the 'Watchers'—divine beings from Genesis 6 who sinned by mating with human women and imparting forbidden knowledge. These beings are imprisoned in chains of darkness, awaiting final judgment, and are distinct from Satan and other demons.
Demons: The Spirits of the Nephilim
Contrary to the common belief that demons are fallen angels, this analysis posits, based on 1 Enoch, that demons are the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim—the hybrid offspring of the Watchers and human women.
